Today is July 3rd 2013, start of the “Mid-West Trungkhar Meets” being observed to celebrate His Holiness’s birthday, here in Minnesota. We have a wide variety of events planned over the next few days by the Tibetan American Foundation of Minnesota. One of which is a musical concert that I am participating in, tomorrow night. I am very happy to be taking part in it, with a wonderful cause in mind.
Through my brother, I have been asked to seek support and donations for medical surgery needs of a young Tibetan girl living in Dheradhun Tibetan Settlement. Her name is Tenzin Paldon and she has a Spinal Issue that’s impacting her heart. She is scheduled for her surgery in a hospital in Delhi and the family needs some financial assistance from fellow Tibetans and supporters for a successful surgery and recovery.
Tomorrow, during the concert, I’ll be raising some funds for my medical and social work “Om Charity”, and also for Tenzin Paldon la’s family for her surgery and recovery needs. Personally, I’ll donating $500 dollars from my concert fees, for her medical fund and will send it to India to the family or the concerned medical clinic that’s coordinating her surgery. I hope all the concert attendees will also support and make generous donation.
On July 5th, I’ll be heading up to Calgary, Canada for OM Charity Benefit Concert for July 6th 2013. It’ll be my first time in Calgary and I am so looking forward to spending some time with the local Tibetans and to celebrate the Trungkhar with them. I hope everyone will come out to enjoy a good time, listen to Tibetan music, and celebrate the life and legacy of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Let me also use this piece to announce the cover fee for the Calgary Om Charity Benefit Concert. I realize that some of us have big families, and we can’t afford to pay $20 bucks per person, for a family of 5 or more. That’s a load of money. Therefore, I’ve decided to let the “Students” under 18 who come with their parents, get in FREE with a small donation at the door, for Om Charity. To get in free with a small donation, you need to attend the Benefit Concert with your parents.
On July 26th, I have an honor to offer a new song I’ve composed for His Holiness the Sakya Trizin, during his visit to Minneapolis. I am looking forward to it, even though I am not fully prepared as of right now (because it’s a new song). But after all these Trungkhar activities wind down, I’ll spend more time to finish up this song, just in time for His Holiness the Sakya Trizin’s visit. What’s even better is that July 26th just happened to be the day I was born. (At least that what my parents say. And I trust them). So it’s a super honor to sing for His Holiness the Sakya Trizin on my birthday. Can’t get any better than this 🙂
After all these events & activities are finished, I’ll be focusing back on my new album composition and recording work. Some of the current projects I am working on are, of course a new musical album for Losar 2014 in Lhasa, Tibet. Also the everyday tasks of fundraising and communication on my Om Charity to support sick and poor Tibetans in exile (www.OmCharity.org) . I’ll also need to work on the 21 Children Songs project (www.TibetanChildrenSongs.com), which is due to release in December 2013.
Well these are enough to keep me busy for the time being; along with my full time job 🙂
So, that’s what in my head now 🙂
